You'll need your vault key to get back in.
Egg is just another password manager...
Or is it? Unlike most others, Egg does not store your passwords. It has no cookies, no trackers, no ads. Nothing. The entire codebase is less than 1MB, exists as a single HTML file, and can run fully air-gapped if needed!
You're in charge. But how does it work?
Egg's core deterministic engine is based on HMAC-SHA256. Combine the same vault key, URL, and username (plus optional custom settings) and Egg will always yield the same unique password for that site and account.
Backups are easy.
Your entries are automatically saved in your web browser's local storage, safely encrypted using AES-256-GCM. Backing up and restoring encrypted vaults is as easy as copy-and-pasting some text (because that's exactly what it is).
So go ahead and keep this encrypted text in your notes app or wherever!

Egg vaults use local storage in your browser, tied to your device and not on the cloud. If you ever lose your device or clear your cache, you'll need a valid backup to restore access.
